What is BMW ConnectedDrive?
BMW ConnectedDrive offers you a wide range of digital services and driver assistance systems for your BMW, either factory-fitted or available from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. You can also use cloud-based services with real-time information, such as BMW Maps or BMW Charging, using the mobile communications connection of your BMW. Depending on the equipment fitted in your BMW, apps and vehicle functions are operated in BMW iDrive via the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, by touch on the control display, using the BMW Controller or using your connected smartphone. You can view your vehicle status in the My BMW App and, among other things, perform Remote Services or set up the BMW Digital Key for your BMW. From Operating System 7 onwards, your BMW will receive regular Software Updates.
How does BMW ConnectedDrive work?
BMW ConnectedDrive offers a range of functions and services to make your journey safer, more comfortable and more pleasant. Does your BMW include a permanently fitted and active SIM card? Then register your vehicle and create a new BMW ID on the Login page of the My BMW App or My BMW Portal on your country’s BMW web page. Your can also start the registration process in your BMW by scanning a QR code. Download the My BMW App to use all the digital functions. Additional features are clearly summarized in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store.
What are BMW ConnectedDrive services?
BMW ConnectedDrive includes all digital services that intelligently connect your vehicle to the outside world. This includes telematics services such as navigation services and voice control. Additionally, driver assistance systems, mobile device connectivity, as well as entertainment offerings and traffic services make every drive more comfortable.
In which BMW models is BMW ConnectedDrive available?
In BMW vehicles from 2014 onwrads, a SIM card is permanently installed and generally active. This SIM card is the basic requirement for using BMW ConnectedDrive as well as for meeting legal requirements, such as the statutory emergency call.
To provide BMW ConnectedDrive services, such as BMW Intelligent Emergency Call and Teleservice, data is exchanged between the vehicle and BMW via the mobile network and processed by BMW to deliver the services.

Can I order digital services for BMW ConnectedDrive later on?
Depending on your country and the model and equipment fitted in your BMW with BMW Operating System 7 (from service pack 2018) or later, you may be able to use the “BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades” offer to purchase vehicle functions that, in the past, were solely available as factory-fitted optional equipment. Order them at the BMW ConnectedDrive Store and install them over the air in your vehicle. The BMW ConnectedDrive Store in your country will provide an overview of the functions available for your BMW.
Please note: Individual functions can only be ordered if your BMW is technically prepared with the relevant optional equipment or a factory-fitted equipment package. The “Software Updates” service must be available and activated in your BMW.
What is BMW Digital Premium?
BMW Digital Premium is an optional offer for BMW models from BMW Operating System 9 or later. It provides additional digital services that build on the basic functions of the Operating System. It includes advanced navigation features, entertainment offers complete with data and (depending on the Operating System) additional personalisation options or Security Assistant functions.
What is included in the BMW Digital Premium package?
The BMW Digital Premium package includes data for a diverse and constantly growing range of entertainment. You can access apps, like Zoom, Spotify or YouTube. You also get additional BMW Maps functions, such as RTTI on the full map, even without an active route, plus 3D and satellite views.
With Operating System X, the BMW Digital Premium package offers you the Security Assistant, additional BMW Maps features, and data for a variety of entertainment in your vehicle.
The functions and features of BMW Digital Premium can vary depending on your country and the equipment fitted in your BMW. Your BMW requires a mobile phone connection to use certain services and apps. Certain apps may need a separate contract with the provider.
How can I order BMW Digital Premium?
You can order BMW Digital Premium at the BMW ConnectedDrive Store, My BMW App or directly in-vehicle as a monthly or annual subscription specific to your country, and flexibly cancel it at any time. You can also experience the features of BMW Digital Premium during a free trial period.¹
